Writing and Editing

writingWriters in the Office of Strategic Communications and Integrated Marketing work closely with the content experts on campus to deliver the College’s key messages. Campus departments and offices write their own materials if they are being used internally and SCIM is available to advise departments on how best to present the information. Information being sent externally or off-campus should be proofed first by SCIM to ensure consistency in delivery of Siena’s messages.

For a quick guide to effective writing, please reference the Messaging Glossary for Siena College. If there are questions which are not addressed here, the Associated Press Style Guide should be consulted at www.apstylebook.com or email the Office of Strategic Communications and Integrated Marketing at communications.edu.

If you need writing help, SCIM can recommend professional freelancers. Freelance writing will add to the cost of your project, so be sure to figure that into your budget.

SCIM is responsible for identifying appropriate copywriters whereas departments prepare the Purchase Orders.
