Siena College's Pre-Law program assists students in acquiring the appropriate background and skills to compete in the law school admissions process. Through personal guidance and information, Siena's Pre-Law program seeks to maximize our students' potential for success in the field of law. 

 15th Annual Pre-Law Mentor Event

The Pre-Law Mentor Event is a wonderful opportunity for any Siena Student regardless of the major, to get first-hand knowledge about entering law school, a possible career in the legal profession, and beyond.  If you think you have an interest in pursuing a career in any type of legal environment, this is the event for you.

  

Attending this event will be alumni from all avenues of law.  These mentors can give you valuable insight on law, what to prepare for, what their journey was like, and answer any other general questions you may have regarding pursuing a legal career.  Our alumni are top notch in their fields, ranging from Judges, to attorneys, to public officials, and more.  The Siena alumni who attend this event are doing so on a voluntary basis to assist you with your future careers.  Come and take advantage of this one of a kind mentoring event.  Who knows, you could make a life long friend, gain valuable knowledge, and get your foot in the door to an exciting career in the legal profession. Anything is possible! Professional/Business type attire is required. Buffet and beverages will be served.

 

An Introduction to Intellectual Propery Law

On Friday, February 28th Siena College hosted Christine Sgarlata Chung, J.D. an Associate Professor of Law at Albany Law School. The Talk was sponsored by The School of Science, The Center for the Study of Government and Politics, The Pre-Law Program, and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. We would like to thank Professor Chung and everyone that was responsible for the organization of the event.

 The Girvin & Ferlazzo Moot Courtroom Dedication

On Friday, March 1st, 2013, Siena College and the Law Firm of Girvin & Ferlazzo conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Girvin & Ferlazzo Moot Courtroom located in Siena Hall 218. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place during the 9th annual “Capital Region Lawyers’ Reception”. These events are in support of Siena College's Jurist-In-Residence Program. The Pre-Law program is multifaceted in its approach and includes: 

Siena Students at NY State Court of Appeals

 Siena Pre-Law Students at the New York Court of Appeals in Spring 2009.

Eighty-five percent of our students who applied to law school in 2008 were accepted including all of our Summer Legal Fellows.

Siena has established a 4/3 program with law schools.  In this program, Siena students can complete their undergraduate education at Siena and then proceed with their law education.

MEET The Advisor 

  • CutlerLeonard Cutler, Ph.D., is a Professor of Public Law and pre-law advisor in the political science department at Siena College.  Dr. Cutler’s areas of expertise include criminal law and procedure, constitutional law, international law, and the U.S. Supreme Court. (more)
