Private Loan Glossary


Promissory Note - A legal document outlining your loan terms and repayment options. All students are required to complete a promissory note with their private education loan lender.

Servicer - An organization that works with your lender to oversee your private loan (disbursement, repayment, etc.)

Self Certification Form - A federally required form that must be completed by the borrower during the application process. The Self-Certification Form is provided by the lender and must be completed by the student. Information such as your cost of attendance (COA) and financial aid can be found on your award letter or your Web for Student Account.
