Assistant Professor - Adolescence Education

Siena College’s NCATE-accredited Education Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin Fall 2013. The Education Department enjoys strong working relationships with the New York State Capital District’s urban, suburban and rural schools. We are seeking candidates committed to teaching and advising undergraduates; able to incorporate a full range of diversity issues in their curricula, practice, and thinking; and eager to contribute to and extend the Department’s outreach, research initiatives, and ongoing accreditation-related activities.

Requirements include an earned doctorate in adolescence education or a closely related field, evidence of teaching excellence at the secondary and post-secondary levels, a collaborative working style, excellent communication skills, and a program of scholarly research and publication appropriate for teacher education. Secondary teaching experience with diverse populations in high-need settings is required. The candidate’s fields of specialization should include adolescent literacies, urban education, curriculum and instruction, and assessment. We are a small department and so value versatility.
