Caitlyn Confessore ’14
GOLD Scholar 2013-2014
Class of 2014 student Caitlyn Confessore looked at several other schools before deciding Siena was the school for her. “It was really just a feeling,” said Caitlyn. “I can’t explain it—I just knew.” Caitlyn said the exact moment came as she was driving away from Siena that day, with Siena Hall in the rearview mirror, when she told her mom “this is it.”
Caitlyn’s academic experience at Siena has been one of discovery. She came to Siena with the intention of pursuing a Creative Arts major, having been heavily involved with music in high school. Her enjoyment of varied coursework had her consider Marketing as a major but she ultimately found her passion in English Literature and is now pursuing this as her major. She has enjoyed the support of all of her professors through her transitions and feels fortunate to be a part of a community that has allowed her this exploration.
In addition to her academics, Caitlyn stays involved as an Ambassador with Admissions, giving tours to prospective students and their families. She also holds a work study position in the Women’s Center, where she sits on the Health and Wellness Committee, focusing on issues of spiritual and mental health. It was after her third day working at the center that Caitlyn said she knew she wanted to pursue a career that would allow her to help others. “I called my mom up and told her I want to do non-profit work after I graduate.” Although she still has a year left, Caitlyn says she is most interested in working to promote women’s health and advocate for disorders like Anorexia and Bulimia. This summer she began an internship with Blue Shield, helping to coordinate their social media and communications efforts, putting her interests in health and communications to good use.
Reflecting on her experiences at Siena so far, Caitlyn stated, “None of this would have happened if it weren’t for financial aid and my scholarships.”
