The Office of the President of Siena College invites applications for a part-time (20 hours per week) College Counsel responsible for coordinating legal matters affecting the College including the provision of legal services and strategic advice to the President, the Board of Trustees, members of the Cabinet and administrative staff in support of the mission of the College. The College Counsel is responsible for providing or securing legal guidance in a number of areas including, but not limited to: Athletics; Copyright and Publishing Law; Governance; Disability and Handicap Law; Higher Education Compliance and Laws; Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management; Sponsored Research; Intellectual Property; Student Conduct and Discipline; Contracts; and Immigration Law. This position reports to the Office of the President.
Requirements include: a Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school, and a minimum of five years’ legal experience (preferably in higher education). This position requires excellent judgment; strong relationship-building, analytical and communication skills; the ability to work with a diverse population; the ability to work independently on a broad range of tasks, and a demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations specific to the field of higher education.
