2016 Veterans Recognition Dinner

Siena College honors the service and sacrifice of veterans of the United states military with the annual Veterans Recognition Dinner held at the College. This year’s event honored two veterans that are close to the heart of the Siena community, Colonel Andrew Morgado and Anthony F. Schmitz.

Since the results of last Tuesday’s presidential election became known, many have expressed a wide variety of emotions and reactions. Amidst the fears and concerns of some, the joy of victory for others, the distress and the “what if” speculation, it is a time when all of us should pause, step back, and consider what we might learn from our most recent election cycle. It has much to reveal to us about who we are and where we are as a nation, not only in theory but in practice.

On November 3, 2016 the longest serving innocent man in United States history, Ricky Jackson, visited Siena College to share his story. Jackson lost nearly four decades of his life after being wrongfully convicted of murder in 1975 in Ohio.
