Twenty distinct concentrations allow for specialization

On Saturday, April 30th the annual Faculty and Administrators Dinner honored this year’s Faculty and Administrator Award winners.

Courtney Houston ’16 is this year’s recipient of the Lonnstrom HEOP Excellence Award. The Syracuse, NY native will receive her bachelor’s degree in English.

The Siena College Symposium on Living Philosophers brings philosophy to life for Siena Saints. This unique yearlong course immersed students in the works of a famous thinker before allowing them the opportunity to come into both intellectual and personal contact with the Philosopher they are studying.

The College’s annual Academic Excellence Celebration brings together students from Siena’s schools of liberal arts, business and science to share work and celebrate their accomplishments with the community. This daylong event highlights student research with a presentation session and honors the achievements of Saints with an afternoon of honor society inductions and awards.

As a culmination of a year’s worth of research, Siena’s First-Year Seminar (FYS) program holds a student conference for freshmen to present their final research projects. The event, which covers topics from drones and Barbie to superfoods, provides students the opportunity to hone in on their research and presentation skills in front of their peers and members of the Siena community.

A group of Siena students got a first-hand look at the town of Colonie through their “Town of Colonie Quality of Life Survey.” Completed in conjunction with the Siena College Research Institute (SRI), the 13 students in this community based- research course spoke with Town of Colonie residents to assess the quality of life in the town.
