Judith Butler: Philosophy Rock Star

Siena students have been able to witness philosophy come to life through a course known as the Symposium on Living Philosophers. During this course, a small group of Siena College students work with professors and an external scholar to study the work of a philosopher who they are then able to meet and interact with.

Copenhagen Connects History, Science and Theater

Siena College’s Creative Arts Department and student theatre program Stage III recently wrapped this semester’s main stage production, “Copenhagen.” The play by Michael Frayn explores what could have happened when German physicist Werner Heisenberg made an impromptu visit to Nobel Prize winning physicist Neils Bohr in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1941.

One Billion Rising

One Billion Rising is an international movement that began in 2013 as a way to help end violence against women and girls. On Valentine’s Day, activists around the world gather and dance in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and relationship violence. Snow forced Siena College to postpone its second annual event, but last week members of the College community gathered to send a global message in their own way.

Entrepreneur of the Year ‘14

Prospective business leaders and entrepreneurs gathered inside Siena’s Sarazen Student Union for a special celebration, the naming of the College’s first “Entrepreneur of the Year.” The award is given by Siena’s Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to a Siena graduate who has positively impacted his or her community and is driven by the entrepreneurial spirit and values of Siena College.

Siena College students, faculty and alumni, some from as far away as India, gathered to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Globalization/International Studies Program. Under the leadership of program founder and director Professor of Political Science Jean Stern, Ph.D., the Globalization/International Studies Program has prepared students with valuable skills through course work, travel abroad, internships and service for a decade.
