Siena Success: Miguel Franco ‘13
Newly minted Siena College graduate Miguel Franco ’13 thought outside the box when deciding what to research for his Honors Thesis. As a student in the J. Spencer and Patricia Standish Honors Program, Franco produced an in-depth scholarly research paper on a topic that, to the casual observer, may seem a little off beat.

First-Year Students Present Research
As the spring semester drew to a close, first-year students shared the results of their research with members of the Siena College community. The annual First-Year Seminar Student Research Conference allowed more than 60 students from a variety of majors to share their research on topics covered in their First-Year Seminar classes, including popular culture, war, history, women’s issues, leadership, crossing borders, public policy, human impacts on the environment, voice, justice, democracy, beauty and the American dream.

Celebration of Academic Excellence 2013
As the spring semester drew to a close, Siena College recognized the academic success and hard work of its students with the annual Celebration of Academic Excellence. Throughout the day, students were inducted into various academic honor societies and some were recognized with awards for leadership and involvement.

Celebrating Town and Gown Collaboration
As the Siena College community celebrated the academic and leadership awards received by its students, it also recognized the successful partnerships formed with the Town of Colonie. The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) Special Recognition Award was given to the Town of Colonie Police Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Shaker Road Loudonville Fire Department.
