Focus On Sandy

Creative arts and digital photography students used their talent to raise more than $500 for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. During a two day event called Focus on Sandy, the photography students sold their photos and donated all of the proceeds to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief efforts.

Real Food at Siena

During the fall semester Siena students and Dan Detora, director of dining services, changed some of the food-purchasing habits of the College toward locally produced organic foods or real foods. Real foods are considered sustainable ethical production and are nourishing for the consumer, producer and community as well as the health of our planet.

The History Department co-sponsored a conference with the Capital District Civil War Round Table called “1862: A Year of Battles.” The conference was a three day event and featured student presentations, expert speakers and a tour of Burden Ironworks to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Student Honored for Service at Health Clinic

Ananda Brinkmann ’13 received the Volunteer Appreciation Award from the Capital City Rescue Mission forher work at its free clinic. The Capital City Rescue Mission Free Clinic in Albany is a non-profit organization that administers basic health care and medical care to those who are homeless.
