Campus Events

In the face of intolerance and discrimination, hundreds of Capital Region students are now resolved to make it STOP.

More than 200 middle and high school students from the greater Albany area visited Siena's campus on Friday, January 12 for the 14th annual STOP conference (Students Together Opposing Prejudice).

Facilitated by trained reps from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the students from 30 different schools met in the Sarazen Student Union and Siena Hall for discussions and action planning around issues of prejudice, tolerance, and respect.

Students attend this conference to discuss ways they can become more involved in helping to combat intolerance and discrimination at their schools and in their communities. Counselors and teachers from the schools also take part in their own workshop.

The day concluded with an art show of work submitted by area students on the theme of peace and nonviolence.

STOP is sponsored by Siena College's Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King Lecture Series and is facilitated by the ADL's A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® Institute.
