This past Sunday marked the fourth annual Senior Gift Kick-off Party where 150 students were welcomed back to campus a day early to celebrate their contribution to the Class of 2013 Gift. The senior class has raised $6,167, a record amount by the kick-off party, with a goal of $10,000.
"The endless opportunities that Siena has provided me will leave me in debt to this school for the rest of my life. In my eyes, making a small donation to the Senior Class Gift is the very least I can do to give back to this community. " said Joe Abed El Latif '13.
The Class of 2013 Council and Senior Gift Committee chose to designate their gift contributions to the David '73 and Christine Spicer '75 Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Endowment. "I truly believe that the CIE program will provide future students with an incredible opportunity to turn their ambition and ingenuity into something real,“said Abed El Latif.
The Senior Gift provides students the opportunity to work together and create class spirit. “This party provides an opportunity for students to get excited about giving back to the College and leaving their legacy at Siena which we hope stays with them after they graduate,” said Jake Hill '09, assistant director of alumni relations and manager of the senior gift campaign.
Sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations, the reception featured dinner, drinks and raffles for students to win Siena gear, tickets to Senior Week events and autographed ESPN banners.
Typically the majority of senior class gift fundraising takes place during the spring semester and the party acts as a springboard for the class to gain momentum on their campaign. Seniors interested in making a contribution to their class gift can visit the Senior Gift website.
