Looking back at your Siena experience, what are some of the top memories that stand out?

Winning a MAAC Championship in Disney World last year; my two service trips to Ethiopia and my two service trips to South Africa; my first and last day at my internships at Unity House and at Castleton Elementary School; my brother being at the same school as me.

How have you changed since you arrived here?

I have matured so much since I first arrived. As a freshman, I was just caught up in volleyball and my friends. As the years went on, I found all the other amazing opportunities Siena has to offer. I went outside of my comfort zone and began trying new things. By doing this, I fell in love with the social work field, service, traveling, and so much more. I became more independent which will help me when I move to South Carolina in June to attend the University of South Carolina for graduate school.

What will you miss most?

I will miss all the friends and the memories that I have made at Siena. I will miss walking into the MAC and seeing all the different staff members and athletes who have all had such a large impact on my life. I will also miss the professors who I have become so close with and who have given me so many opportunities throughout my time here. But most important, I will miss going to college with my little brother who doubles as my best friend.

Talk about your service experiences and explain why service so important to you?

I went to Ethiopia twice and South Africa twice during my time at Siena. I was having a pretty hard time here at first and finding something that meant so much to me was exactly what I needed. I became dedicated to doing service abroad as well as locally. It was also these service trips that helped me to realize that the social work field was the perfect path for me. I got to know myself better while I was on these trips, and I began understanding other people. I had so many amazing experiences that have shaped my life and made me the person I am now.

What advice would you give an incoming Siena student?

I would tell them to take advantage of everything Siena has to offer. Go into each new experience with an open mind because you never know what you’re going to fall in love with here. I would tell them not to wait to try new things, because before they know it they’ll be graduating just like I am now.
