Academics, Student Life

The Supply Chain and Logistics Management course recently took a trip to a Target Distribution Center and one of their retail stores in order to see their class discussions in action.

Marketing majors Jenna Potter ’16 and Erin Grogan ’16 were part of Marketing professor Mike Pepe’s, Ph.D. , class that met with team leaders from Target to learn about the manufacturing process.

“It was an amazing experience to see the content we are learning in process,” Grogan said. “Their technology is top notch and I found it interesting to see how quickly products can go from the truck at the distribution center to the retail floor and how everything is tracked.”

Target and Siena have been a good match over the years as numerous Siena alumni hold leadership positions within the company today.

“We like to hire Siena grads because they have a passion to succeed,” Renee Gardner, senior field campus recruiter for Target, said. “They come to us well-prepared, professional and exude excellent levels of engagement. This allows them to flourish in an innovative atmosphere like Target.”

Students like Potter enjoyed the opportunity to make connections and exchange business cards. “I didn’t think much about this as an employment option until I took this course. Now I can see myself pursuing work in this field,” she said.

Finding your passion and matching students to Fortune 500 companies is one of the many ways Siena offers the education of a lifetime.
