Siena in the News

Dear Siena Community,

The executive order issued January 27 by President Trump, which immediately suspends entry to the United States by individuals from select countries, is an affront to America’s most cherished ideals.

Siena College’s Catholic-Franciscan tradition and core values ask us to respect and value every person – regardless of their race, creed, gender identity, culture, or religious affiliation. In this vein, we are especially grateful for the many ways our diverse faculty and students contribute their unique gifts and talents to the richness of our academic and community life.

With the exception of our Native American brothers and sisters, America is a nation of strangers and aliens who have come together and are bound together by good will and the desire to promote liberty and justice for all.

The president's executive order should be rescinded immediately. It does not reflect the history or ideals of our nation, our diverse religious heritages, or our colleges and universities.

Br. Ed
