Siena College has selected AVI Foodsystems, Inc.—America’s largest, independently-owned and operated food and hospitality provider— as its new partner in dining and food services commencing  June 1. This decision was reached after a thorough bid and selection process that included participation from faculty, students and administrators.

“Dining services is an important part of Siena’s campus community. As we navigated the bid process, AVI’s commitment to strengthening that sense of community through the services they provide impressed us most. AVI is committed to student engagement and development of new, innovative dining options,” said Vice President for Finance and Administration Paul Stec ’79. “We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.”

AVI’s presence on campus will transform the dining experience at Siena. The company is committed to preparing 100% of meals from scratch using the freshest ingredients possible. AVI also maintains a commitment to fair trade, aggressive sustainability practices and the incorporation of locally sourced ingredients to ensure that its food is of the highest quality.

AVI will also offer longer service hours at both of the College’s dining halls and Casey’s, its new café. Students, faculty, staff and administrators can also expect to see Siena’s primary dining facility, Lonnstrom Dining Hall, evolve with an updated layout that features new points of service, including a gelato station, bakery, grill and carving station. The company plans to develop a strong wellness program and launch campus and corporate internships for Siena College students.

“It’s important for us to be a part of the campus community and serve our guests with a family approach. We are honored to partner with Siena and look forward to building a long-term relationship that will enhance the student and faculty experience,” said AVI Executive Vice President Chris Nelson.

AVI replaces Sodexo, which has been Siena’s dining services provider for more than 30 years. This transition will not interrupt services and all existing Sodexo employees will be considered for opportunities to work with AVI.
