Academics, Student Life

Long, cold winters like the one Siena College students endured this year are nothing new for Kevin Conner ’15. The computer science major grew up in the Adirondacks in the small town of North Creek, New York.

Throughout his time at Siena though, Conner has had many new experiences, including cheering on the Siena Saints men’s basketball team at the Times Union Center and celebrating Sienafest every spring. He’s also made lifelong friends and connected with professors, proving that his Siena experience lived up to the expectations Conner had when he first visited.

“I realized that there were so many opportunities here,” Conner said. “I loved the campus and everyone was so nice and made me feel welcomed.” That feeling and his decision to attend Siena were cemented during his admissions interview.

Last fall, Conner traveled to Austin, Texas for yet another interview that would impact his future. This one led to a job with IBM.

After his interview in Austin, Conner was offered a position as a software engineer. It was a Siena connection that opened the door to this opportunity. After she was hired by IBM, fellow computer science major Emma Bostian ’15 was asked to recommend fellow classmates for consideration at the company. She suggested Conner.

Conner is ready to take the next step and begin his career. “Siena has really prepared me to enter the workforce, giving me a well-rounded liberal arts education,” Conner said.

Whether it is caring faculty, opportunities for internships and research, or connections with classmates Kevin Conner is living proof that Siena College prepares its students for success in job interviews and beyond.
