Academics, Siena in the News, Student Life

Siena College and SUNY Schenectady County Community College have signed a transfer agreement that will allow SCCC grads with an associate’s degree to enroll in one of 31 degree programs at Siena.

SCCC students who complete their program as outlined will receive full transfer credit and can then go on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Siena. Students who transfer in 54 credits or more from their degree program will enter Siena as juniors.

The agreement is effective immediately, and is applicable to SCCC’s Class of 2017 and beyond.

“Academic programs at Schenectady County Community College provide strong preparation for, and ready access to, baccalaureate programs here at Siena,” said Br. F. Edward Coughlin, O.F.M., Ph.D., Siena’s president. “We are pleased to offer this new pathway, and we strongly believe that many students in a degree program at SCCC will benefit from the information, guidance and transfer course equivalencies this agreement provides.”

Dr. Steady H. Moono, president of SCCC, added, “At SCCC, we strive to create exceptional academics and financially-smart opportunities for all of our students. We’re extremely excited about our new partnership with Siena College, as it gives our students another leg up as they pursue higher education, and a means for chasing their dreams and careers.”

SCCC offers more than 55 degree, certificate and program options. Siena also has similar agreements with Hudson Valley Community College in Troy and Adirondack Community College in Queensbury and Wilton.

Br. Coughlin and Dr. Moono met at SCCC on July 12 for a formal signing of the articulation agreements. They were joined by Jennifer Sloan, Siena’s associate director of admissions, and Dr. Penny Haynes, SCCC’s provost and vice president for academic and student affairs.
