Jupiter is getting a lot of attention this week as NASA’s Juno probe entered its orbit for a detailed study of the largest planet in our solar system.

While the Juno probe itself is too small to see 540 million miles away, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars are all visible in the night sky, and with the aid of Siena’s powerful telescopes, Jupiter’s moons and cloud belts, as well as Saturn’s rings, can be seen.

The public is invited to use the College’s telescope during a viewing next Monday evening, coordinated by the College’s Physics and Astronomy Department.

WHAT: Public viewing of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars via Siena telescopes
WHEN: 9 p.m. Monday, July 11
WHERE: Siena campus near the baseball field (follow signs from Rt. 9 campus entrance)
