Former Saint, coach, mentor, friend and Siena professor of 27 years, Patrick John Sheridan passed away on December 1.
Sheridan received his B.S. degree from Providence College in Rhode Island before returning to the Capital Region to earn his MBA from Siena in 1966. He then continued his relationship with the College as he went on to teach finance for 27 years.
Sheridan’s work didn’t stop once his class periods were over, he played an important role in the Siena community and the lives of his students. He sat on many committees, was the finance department chair for over ten years and initiated an internship program to connect Saints with local businesses. On top of these duties, he also coached the Siena hockey team, taking them to national championship tournaments.
He held close connections with his students even after their time at Siena had ended. Sheridan was a friend and a mentor, and was invited to many weddings of his former students.
“Pat was a dear friend and will be remembered as a good soul. He would do anything for anyone; just because it was the right thing to do. He had a very positive influence on me and he will be sorely missed,” said Charles Seifert, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business.
