Siena has long graduated smart business leaders — more than 50 successful local businesses have been created by Siena grads. Yet the college is taking its business program to the next level, and this fall will offer a business major with 20 distinct concentrations, allowing students to create a customizable education best suited to their career goals.

“This new program combines a broad-based education with a focus on key areas that will provide our graduates with the tools they need to be successful in whatever venture they pursue. We are not aware of a program anywhere that provides students with the level of flexibility we’re offering.” said Charles F. Seifert, Ph.D., Dean, School of Business.

Concentrations for the new bachelor of science in business degree include International Business, Corporate Finance, Sports and Services Marketing, and Ethical Leadership in a Global Environment, among others, with students required to complete two of the concentrations. A full list of all 20 concentrations is attached below. The concentrations can be combined to create 184 unique educational experiences.

All students at Siena will have the opportunity to complete a concentration regardless of their major, providing a truly interdisciplinary program for students majoring in business, liberal arts and the sciences.

“As global business continues to evolve, the way we prepare our students evolves,” said Brother F. Edward Coughlin, O.F.M., Ph.D., Siena’s president. “Offering this new customizable program is just one way of fulfilling our mission to provide students with an education of a lifetime.”

Students pursuing this new personalized major will first participate in Siena’s business core to develop a well-rounded foundation, and then choose two concentrations for more detailed study.

Bob Mack, a Siena graduate who today is Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy, and President, Global Adjacent Markets at Polaris Industries, Inc., praised the unique expansion of Siena’s already strong business school.

“The workplace of the future requires specialized skills that will require not only educated minds, but adaptable ones. Siena graduates have a history of seeing beyond the facts and figures and understanding what they mean in a broader context,” Mr. Mack said. “This customizable business major addresses a growing need for innovative individuals with industry relevant skills developed through high impact learning experiences inside and outside the classroom.”
