After spending four years of their lives learning and growing together, Siena’s Class of 2013 reunited for its 100 Days After Graduation Party at the historic Saratoga Race Course on August 17. More than 200 graduates attended this special day organized by the Office of Alumni Relations.
“It was one of the most fun days I’ve ever had,” said Lynnie Maas ’13 who graduated with a degree in psychology in May. “It was like we never left.”
Maas reconnected with her friends and classmates, was serenaded with Happy Birthday, watched the horse races and made her first ever bet.
“I won $7 and was ecstatic about it,” she said.
The party is an annual event that was started 35 years ago by the Class of 1979. Today it still serves as the first post-graduation alumni event.
“The celebration has always been a great way to facilitate the transition from student to alumni, keep relationships strong after graduation and foster new ones,” said Jake Hill ’09, assistant director of alumni relations.
Not only is the Class of 2013 becoming active alumni, joining the workforce and moving on to graduate school, they are contributing to Siena’s future with the Senior Class Gift. To date, they have donated $14,567, which will help fund the Stack Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Donations to the Senior Class Gift will be accepted until December 31, 2013.
Graduates of the last decade (GOLD) were also invited to the track the same day to stop by and welcome the new grads.
