1. My wife Carol (Owen) Turnbull '85 was literally the first person I met at Siena – she was a resident advisor in Hennepin Hall.
  2. I played baseball (catcher) for Tony Rossi. He was one of only two coaches to recruit me (the other was at Amherst College – thankfully, I didn't get in!). I wanted to pitch, but Rossi told me I was best at batting practice. He was able to get me on the YD Red Sox in the Cape Cod League where I played for two summer seasons. One year I was the backup to MLB Hall of Famer Craig Biggio (most of my time was spent in the bullpen for obvious reasons).
  3. My wife and I will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary next month. We've been blessed with a strong marriage and three wonderful (grown) kids – each born in a different state on the east coast.
  4. When I got my master's in sports management at UConn, there were only a handful of schools in the country that offered the degree. I'm excited to see the growth in the industry and that Siena is building its own sport management program.
  5. This is not my first stint at Siena. I was the alumni director from 1993 - 1996.
  6. I worked for the Detroit Pistons for 10 years and the Detroit Red Wings for nine. My greatest memory during that run was the Pistons championship of 2004 when we beat the Lakers star-studded lineup which included Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
  7. I developed a passion for pizza when I was growing up in Pittsfield, MA. There was a pizza place on every corner back then, though very few were chain pizza restaurants. I installed a pizza oven in my backyard where we would have gatherings with family and friends, and we’d try out all types of new pizza combinations.
  8. That passion for pizza grew into a side hustle when I started Bull (last name) & Basil (margherita pizza) Wood Fired Pizza in Michigan on Labor Day weekend, 2019. We brought the business to the Capital District and have been serving wood fired pizzas at a couple local breweries and for grad parties, weddings and other events for the past four years.
  9. I love to golf and fish. Sometimes I bring my collapsable fishing rod in my golf bag and do both!
  10. I'm a bit of a grammar "goober" and type-os stick out to me like they were marked with a highlighter when I'm reading any promotional materials, reviewing resumes, etc. Incorrect use of pronouns makes me want to scream!
