Alumni, Service/Advocacy, Siena in the News

Siena alumna Christine (Connolly) Gilfillan '88 and her family personified the true meaning of Christmas and brought Siena’s Franciscan spirit to life on Tuesday evening’s episode of ABC’s hidden-camera show, “What Would You Do?

The Gilfillans were shopping for a Christmas tree at Secor Farms in Mahwah, N.J., when they encountered three of the show’s actors – a mother and two children – searching for a Christmas tree on a very tight budget. The children were upset that they couldn’t afford a nice, full Christmas tree. Moved by the heartbreaking situation, Gilfillan and her family stepped in and purchased it for them. After all, as Gilfillan told the mother who asked why she was willing to buy a Christmas tree for someone she didn't know, “… it’s the holidays.”
